The story of Hmong Community United Methodist Church is with a rich heritage dating back more than 29 years. The inaugural service was held on March 16, 1981 where the first Hmong voices praised, prayed, and sang the word of God at the newly formed Hmong Community United Methodist Church. The church began at Wesley UMC in St. Paul with five families, which totaled 37 people. The congregation grew to 160 people by the time the church was officially charged as a local church in July of 1981, making it the first Hmong United Methodist Church in the world. We minister to both first and second generation of Hmong Americans who have strong ties to the congregation. At the same time, there is a strong sense of church unity, similar to a family, with everyone caring for each other. The ministry is to all family clans. In the best sense, an intergenerational experience is very much in evidence. Many of its programs involve all age levels. There are various fellowship opportunities through youth, young adult, UMM, and UMW fellowships. Besides Sunday worship service, we celebrate special traditions such as the Hmong New Year, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas, and Easter. Our church is located at the beautiful hillside of Westside of St. Paul, Minnesota. If you are not part of the family, we welcome you to experience the love, care, and support of the family we called “Hmong Community United Methodist Church” when you are in Minnesota. · Sunday school for all ages 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. · Worship service 10:45 – 12:00 Noon · Choir Rehearsal 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. · Wednesday Bible study and prayer for youth and adult 5:00 P.M.
